Q: What is Adherence?
A: Adherence is a quick and succinct way of tracking how compliant the participant is with completing their regular activities with AiCure (i.e. completing daily/weekly doses in the Patient Connect app). The dashboard calculates successful usage of AiCure with a percentage on the Site Coordinator and Sponsor Dashboards. The goal should be to keep participant adherence high to ensure they are compliant with their medication.
Q: Where can I find my participant's adherence on the Site Coordinator dashboard?
A: On the SC Dashboard, medication Adherence is shown at the site and participant levels, as well as visually in graphs for each participant.
The adherence percentage on the Site Dashboard shows adherence percentages for only doses confirmed as “Taken” using the Start button in the app (displayed with the blue dots/squares).
The formula used to calculate the adherence on the Site Coordinator dashboard is shown below. It counts the amount of App-Confirmed doses and divides them by the amount of doses uploaded (meaning Pending doses are excluded) then multiplies that by 100. Then it is either rounded up or down to the nearest whole number.
You can find a breakdown of the adherence details in the Participant Summary tab which will show adherence percentages for the reported dosage of that participant. You can add the different percentages together to get the overall adherence for the participant.
Q: Where can I find my participant's adherence on the Sponsor dashboard?
A: On the Sponsor Dashboard, you can find the adherence for a specific participant by navigating to the Participant Summary section.
The formula used to calculate the adherence on the Sponsor Dashboard is more robust and incorporates all doses that were not missed or disqualified (red alerts). So doses that are classified as App Confirmed, Site-Reported, Self-Reported, and In-Clinic all count towards the adherence. The formula for this is pictured below.
It counts all reported doses, removes the disqualified ones, then divides that by the total pills uploaded and multiplies by 100. The percentage is finally rounded up or down to the nearest tenth.
Q: Why is the adherence calculation different from what the participant reported taking?
A: The adherence calculation is based on doses confirmed as “Taken” using the Start button in the app and have been successfully uploaded to the SC dashboard. Pending doses are not calculated. If there are pending doses for the participant (indicated with the squares with dashed outlines), the app would need to be opened on the Device to upload the pending doses on the SC dashboard.
